St Thomas was once a very busy train town. At the turn of the 20th century it was a major railway hub for 8 prominent railways, and more than 100 trains per day came to this town in 1914. The Elgin County Railway Museum houses artifacts from this era. It also has a fair collection of rolling stock and related railway items, and also has a model railway layout. It is an interesting place to visit. Note - They are temporarily closed as of now.
