Cemeteries can be interesting places to visit. They are a tie to the past, whether it is family, or former local residents. We are living in the present, and we need to keep looking ahead, but ties to the past are good. We need to remember the past. We can be comforted (by seeing the grave of a loved one and realize that “we do not sorrow as those who have no hope” 1 Thess. 4:13), be thankful (years ago, there was a high infant mortality rate, and many grave contain infants and young children), or learn lessons of history (viewing tombstones of local pioneers, or of famous people). A cemetery is also a reminder that none of us will live forever.
