Postcards are no longer popular as they once were. Other quicker methods of communication are in vogue these days. In earlier days, this was the way to exchange a brief, although not instant, message. Postcards are interesting to collect not only for the message written on the back, but also for the picture on the front. If you look hard enough, you can find postcards that were printed with scenes of streets or buildings from pretty much every little town that exists. This is the English (Anglican) church in Millbank. It was built around 1900, and served as a place of worship until recent years.
