It is fascinating to look back and see how much has changed since the early 1980’s. My first job was in retail, at a time when the era of the small-town grocer was coming to an end and the “big box” age was coming into being. Pop was sold in 750ml glass returnable bottles instead of the 2 litre plastic bottles that are so familiar today. In the 80’s, some pop was still shipped in wooden crates. It was hard work slugging those things around. It was also tedious work sorting out empty bottles to be returned to the various suppliers to be washed and reused. These wooden crates are timeless. We are fortunate to still have some as souvenirs of that time era.
